Thailand Travel Requirements

The current pandemic puts a damper on many aspects of our everyday lives. One of the most significant areas affected was travel. While tourism has been slowly ramping back up, many nations still maintain strict requirements for entry.

If you’ve been thinking about traveling to Thailand, then the Thailand Pass is one of the best options for international travelers seeking to get back on the road. Keep reading this article to find out what it is, what its requirements are, and how you can apply for one.

What Is the Thailand Pass

The Thailand Pass is a system designed to expedite the travel of foreign or domestic travelers coming to Thailand. It is free to obtain and records all documentation required by the Thai government to travel safely during this pandemic.

Who Can Apply

The Thailand Pass applies to all individuals traveling to Thailand, including Thai nationals and international citizens. Thailand Pass requirements are broken down into three categories.

Fully Vaccinated - No Quarantine

Thai and foreign fully vaccinated travelers can enter Thailand with no quarantine. As soon as you collect your luggage upon arrival, you are free to travel anywhere in Thailand. Travelers who are fully vaccinated no longer need to complete any sort of mandatory quarantine when they arrive. They will apply for a Thailand Pass and upload the required documents for approval.

Unvaccinated - No Quarantine

One option for unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers is the No Quarantine with RT PCR test program. Travelers who choose this option will need to complete an RT-PCR test within 72 hours of departure from their home country and before they apply for a Thailand Pass. The result needs to be uploaded to the application for approval.

Non-Vaccinated - Quarantine Program

Non-vaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers are still allowed to travel to Thailand. However, unvaccinated travelers must undergo a mandatory 5-day quarantine in a Thailand Pass hotel. Once the traveler has completed the quarantine, they will be allowed to travel elsewhere in the country.

Pre-Arrival Requirements

To complete a Thailand Pass application, there are several conditions that you will have to meet. Before boarding a flight and upon arrival, you will be expected to present a passport, a vaccination card/certificate of recovery, Thailand Pass insurance, confirmation of booking at a Thailand Pass hotel, and a flight booking. Additionally, you’ll need to present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of their departure if unvaccinated.

A traveler must visit the Thailand pass official website to complete a Thailand pass application. Once on the website, you will need to register an account, complete a profile, share the required documents (see above), and confirm your email. After the application is complete, you should receive a decision in a week or less on your application.

If your application is approved, you’ll receive a QR code by email that you can use to cross the Thai border. Alternatively, Thailand Pass assistance is available for an additional charge. Still, it is recommended that travelers complete their application at least one week before their scheduled flight.

Travel Insurance

One of the requirements you’ll need to meet is getting Thailand Pass insurance for the coronavirus. This insurance should cover at least $10,000 in medical expenses. Additionally, it will need to cover you for the expected length of your stay in Thailand. So, be sure there’s a sufficient buffer for the length of your insurance coverage.

The insurance should cover treatment and other medical expenses related to being infected with C-19. That will include in-patient hospitalization, hospital and hotel isolation, and hotel quarantine.

Unfortunately, if you choose the wrong travel insurance, there is a probability that your application will be rejected. With that in mind, it’s essential that your chosen policy is worded appropriately and meets the requirements laid out by the Thai government. Additionally, the Thailand Pass only accepts one-page attachments, so your travel Insurance certificate cannot exceed those limits. Arrival in Thailand

At the point of entry in Thailand, you will undergo a health screening. This includes a body temperature check. Additionally, expect to have to present immigration officials with all the required documentation.

During Your Stay

While in Thailand, travelers are expected to follow all Thai rules and regulations regarding the pandemic. This includes wearing a mask in public spaces, washing hands, and practicing social distancing. Additionally, if you’re experiencing C-19 symptoms, you’ll need to get tested and receive the appropriate treatment if positive.

Wrap Up

The Thailand Pass has made travel to the country easier and more efficient despite the challenges posed by the current pandemic.

Upon fulfilling the requirements, you’ll get to freely travel within Thailand without limits. It is possible to complete the Thailand pass application on your own. However, Thailand pass assistance is available to expedite the process. While the application is intuitive, it’s still a good idea to complete your application at least one week before flying out.

This is an exciting time to start traveling and experience all the wonders that Thailand offers. The Thailand Pass is the gateway to your next adventure.
